River Lucas

As a skilled young skier on the cusp of my prospective ski career, I am very optimistic for what is in store for my future. Growing up in Montana, I developed an early attachment to the sport and that bond has only strengthened.  In the last few years, however, my passion for skiing has driven me to devote my life to developing my skills and training to be the best skier I can be.

My burgeoning ski career is already backed by an impressive résumé of competitive results and a vast array of tricks in my arsenal, and the great thing is: I am only eighteen.  Every single day that there is snow on the ground, I am out on skis throwing tricks and perfecting my technique.  During the off-season, I spend hours every day on the trampoline working on various flips and spins, challenging myself with new tricks, never satisfied until I master them.  I thrive on competition; there is no better feeling than finishing a perfect run or sticking a textbook trick.  I am being completely honest when I tell you that I eat, sleep, and breathe skiing.  Every new day spent in the mountains is an adventure, a thrilling opportunity for me to explore new territory and expand my horizons as a skier.  Skiing is what I want to do with my life.

To further immerse myself in the world of skiing, I work at Gull Ski Shop in my hometown and plan on joining the Mount Hood Summer Ski Camp staff next summer. I spend every weekend of the ski season traveling to competitions across the western United States.  I am a well-known name in my local and surrounding ski communities.  I travel far and wide to compete, my work ethic is stronger than anyone else’s I know, and my drive to go bigger, better, and higher is pervading my life.  I take great pride in my skiing and have a huge amount of respect for the sport.
